The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, Division of Fire wants to remind the public that outdoor burning by permit has been closed since June 30th.  It will remain closed until the end of fire season.

The CS&KT D.O.F. have responded to illegal burns since burning by permit has closed. Those found violating the burn ban can be held responsible for the cost of suppression. Help keep firefighters out of harm’s way by adhering to the burn ban.

While outdoor burning will be closed for the remainder of fire season, the public can still have campfires at this time.  By state law, campfires are limited to 3 feet in diameter.  We urge campers to USE CAUTION as we head into fire season.  Extinguish campfires using a hand tool to mix and stir in water. Campfires should never be unattended, and should be cold to the touch before campers leave the site.

If you witness anyone setting fires or abandoning campfires please contact your local police or call 1-800-47-ARSON.  It’s an anonymous call and your identity will remain confidential. You may also go online to www.wetip.comRewards go up to $10,000. Let’s work together to keep our wild land areas safe and protected.

If you have questions regarding this notice please contact Division of Fire at 406-676-2550
